Common questions

Does it work without signal?
Yes. Everything is on your phone once the app is installed, including the help points list.

Where does the advice come from?
Each step is based on official UK guidance, such as the NHS, nidirect, GOV.UK, fire and rescue services, St John Ambulance and the power and water networks. Tap "Sources" on any step to see them.

Is Be Ready part of the government or the NHS?
No. Be Ready is an independent app. It isn't run by or linked to the UK Government, the NHS or any emergency service.

Why are some phone numbers different for me?
Some services have different numbers in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Choose your part of the UK in Settings and the app shows the right ones.

How do I delete my data?
Tap "Clear saved information" in Settings, or delete the app.
